More Trash...

More Trash the Dress pictures of Casi! These shoots are so fun! Well, for me anyway! Casi was dirty, had bugs crawling on her, sticks in her dress, sand and grass in her hair, and not to mention the freezing water! She was such a good sport. Thanks, Casi, for putting up with my crazy ideas! It was worth it though, right???

Trashy...

I had an absolute blast today with Casi during her "Trash the Dress" shoot. For those of you who don't know, trash the dress is an opportunity for all of you lovely brides to get some amazing fashion shots in your wedding dress after your big day. It is called "trash" the dress because it is usually done in locations where you are bound to get dirty and probably ruin your dress. Who cares though, right? It is better than letting it yellow in your attic or basement! Trash the dress works great for prom/homecoming dresses too. For all you married women out there, let's book the most memorable photo shoot of your life! Even if you were married 5 or 10 years ago, give it a shot! This is just a taste of Casi's session, more to follow!

April's Top Pick Pic....

I love the silhouette of the ferris wheel against the darkening clouds. It is almost haunting, yet nostalgic at the same time.

Backgrounds

Backgrounds are one of the most important elements in your photography. A boring background can lead to a boring picture. A distracting background will almost always produce a distracting picture. Fun, exciting, and aesthetically please, yet not distracting, backgrounds can be found ANYWHERE. Look around your house and your yard. Anything that has a pop of solid color, or and interesting texture will make a great background. Grass works wonderfully too! Just of fun, I shot these images at my house on Saturday. My 3 year old is in the back of a trailer hooked up to a truck. My 9 month old and his little baby buddy are just sitting against our fence. Once you start to really notice how beautiful peeling paint or scuffed up wood can be, you will start noticing amazing backdrops all around you.

Fair Fun!

Here are some shots of the fair we went to the other day. The last one is my son with his "Mom! No more pictures!" face. I had so much fun taking and editing these images. I loved both the Ferris wheel images so much, I couldn't decide which one to post. Elvis riding a unicycle and juggling was pretty fun too! The September fair would make an awesome place to take engagement photos for a fall/winter wedding!

Parading Pics

These are a few shots that I took at the parade today with my kids. I love taking pictures of anything and everything we do. I like to capture our memories in a sort of photo-journalistic way. Hopefully, when my kids are grown, this kind of photography will help to jog their memories about events and emotions they had growing up. Storytelling is my favorite part of being a photographer. (Sorry about all of the black and white...to me parades are timeless and scream nostalgia...what is more nostalgic than black and white!?)

March's top pick pic!

This is my favorite image from March. From the leopard print looking wall, the pose, the smile, and the coloring, it just screams "teenager!" I love how fun and cool it turned out. Click to enlarge to get a better idea of what I am talking about. Thanks Jennifer!

King me!

This gorgeous dalmatian is Checkers. I had the opportunity to do a pet session with him last week. He was adopted about 12 years ago from a rescue shelter, and didn't really know what to think of me and my camera. Sometimes he came to me, other times he ran and hid. He was so sweet and timid. It is amazing to me that, even with animals, you can get a wonderful sense of their personality through pictures.

Gaberiel

Today I had the pleasure of photographing my best friend's brand new baby boy! Well actually, he isn't brand new, he will be four weeks old tomorrow! He was a pretty sick little guy, so we had to put off the shoot. I am happy to say that he is doing much better, and was most cooperative! He has the sweetest facial expressions I have ever seen, and he seemed to know something we didn't. Thank you Gabe!

Sisters...

I had a blast working with Jennifer and Nicole on this shoot. They were so fun to be around, and had some really creative and interesting ideas. We drove all around downtown Puyallup. Every time we saw a bright colored wall or some interesting art we put it in reverse. We were even stopped by the police for being on the railroad tracks!!! I guess it is trespassing or something??? I could have spent all day shooting them. They are such great girls, and they took some beautiful pictures.
